getting down to business (October 21st)

She is serious about a lot of things, including watching new movies for the first time. Also doing puzzles, sucking her thumb, and, sometimes, eating grapes.
The other day on our way out to the pumpkin patch, we stopped so Geoff could hand money over to the toll booth attendant. As we pulled away, Katie said, loudly, "Oh, no! You never get your money back NOW!"
She's had a cold over the past week, and if it's been awhile since she's taken any medicine, she'll sigh as she coughs. "Uh oh," she'll say, sagging her shoulders a little. "I think my cough is back."
She loves her cough and cold medicine, and she'll try to use any opportunity to get us to give her some more. The other day she told me that she needed more medicine. I explained to her that it had only been a few hours since her last dose, so it was too early for her to have any more. And besides, I told her, "You aren't even coughing."
She looked me straight in the eye. Cough, cough. "I are coughing," she said, nodding her head. She looked very serious.
She couldn't keep the smile off of her face when I laughed, though.

Two year olds *are* prone to dramatic statements, aren't they? Yesterday as I gathered coats and shoes so my daughter and I could go to the library together, she said, "Now we'll *never* go to the library again!" (I guess she thought I was taking too long?)
