Dear Katie
The other day I watched you
eating peas with great intensity and immense concentration.
You sat at the dining room table,
scanning the surface for the next pea target.
You chose one, grabbed one, popped it in your mouth.
One and one and one and one.
When you saw me watching you, your eyes locked on mine.
You smiled.
Then your eyes returned to the surface of the table:
Bull's-eye.
This is new to me.
I have never loved someone for the way she eats her peas.
Jessamyn, that was beautiful - it made me smile. Even before the ending, I could just *feel* how much you love Katie (as if I didn't already know!). I'm very glad you were brave and shared. :)

I can't wait to have my own child so that I can feel what you feel for Katie. You express it so well.
